SouthWorks is a people-focused place with purpose.

SouthWorks aims to build on Ithaca’s proud legacy of innovation, regeneration and renewal by creating an inclusive, interconnected neighborhood for all Ithacans to realize their sense of community and shared experience.

Aligning with the goals of the community should be at the forefront of modern development, especially at the neighborhood scale. Our team is committed to ensuring SouthWorks is accessible and inclusive, delivering a product that reflects the needs and desires of the community. SouthWorks seeks to set high standards for sustainability, workforce development, multi-modal transportation, mixed-income housing, and investment in Ithaca.

Fostering prosperity and making an impact

Public input

Public input and transparency are priorities for the development team. Community engagement has been woven into the planning process since its inception with public meetings, design charrettes, and a variety of meetings with community stakeholders, and this will continue as the project progresses. We want to hear from you!

Housing

With more than 900 units of housing planned for the development, the plan is to incorporate mixed-income options into the design. This approach will supply options to the housing market from affordable to market-rate living.

Sustainability at SouthWorks

With the City and Town’s commitment to sustainability, the SouthWorks team is investing heavily in achieving our common goals. We have hired a sustainability team and are incorporating principles of sustainable design into the project.

Transportation

The vision for transportation at SouthWorks is a development that focuses on connectivity, walkability, micro-mobility and transit access, so we can reduce reliance on gas powered automobiles and relieve the burden of vehicle ownership. The development and design teams are working with local transportation experts on plans to incorporate these modes of transportation into the site.
